Navarre Beach and Navarre Beach Fishing Pier will be closing at midnight, according to the Santa Rosa County Fishing Pier operator.

“The beaches will be closed along with the pier at midnight tonight. They don’t have a date to reopen. They will have to assess how things go. They will open as soon as it is safe,” said Tamara Fountain.

According to Fountain there will be restrictions on who can access the beach.

“The contractors will be able to work (day and night), which may help get these improvements knocked out,” Fountain said, referring to the pier re-decking project which is currently underway.

Last night South Santa Rosa News broke the news that the closure was forthcoming, including that restaurants in Santa Rosa County would make the switch to take out or delivery only – no inside dining.

Santa Rosa County’s Public Information Office has not yet issued a release. However, Santa Rosa County Commission Chairman Don Salter confirmed the information the Pensacola News Journal.

Per the PNJ, restaurants will close to dine-in options at midnight on Monday, March 23.

As soon as the county issues its official announcement we will update this story to include that information.
