Santa Rosa County plans to announce a 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 18 groundbreaking for Project Atlas, which in December was revealed to be a 160,000-square-foot expansion of Gulf Cable, located in Santa Rosa Industrial Park in East Milton.

“I am thankful that we have more high-paying jobs coming to Santa Rosa County,” said District 1 Commissioner Sam Parker. “These projects take a long time to come to fruition but bringing businesses to our industrial parks is critical for the health of our local economy.”

District 3 Commissioner James Calkins praises the county’s economic development office for their efforts bringing the project to fruition.

“Shannon Ogletree and his team have been working hard to grow local industries, and this is an exciting project which will deliver more good jobs to our county,” Calkins said.

Ogletree in turn thanked Calkins for his support of the EDO efforts. “I want to thank you personally again for the support of our office and with our agenda items at yesterday’s meeting – with your leadership we can continue to make Santa Rosa County great.”

More than 300 employees work at Gulf Cable’s existing East Milton headquarters where the company manufactures cables serving a diversity of markets, including solar, wind, irrigation, electric utility, petrochemical and irrigation industries.

Gulf Cable’s expansion is expected to bring 30 more jobs to Santa Rosa County.
