Santa Rosa Man Gets Life in Prison for Death of Girlfriend He Met on Dating Site

Ginger Bowden Madden, State Attorney for the First Judicial Circuit of Florida, announces that on February 5, 2021, Jerry Geisler Odum, pled guilty to First Degree Premeditated Murder. The Honorable Judge Simon immediately
sentenced Odum to a mandatory life sentence in prison.

On August 7, 2020, the defendant struck his girlfriend, Vickie Edge, in the head multiple times with a baseball bat before strangling her to death. Law enforcement became involved the following day after Ms. Edge’s family members became concerned that they had been unable to reach her. Law enforcement ultimately entered the defendant’s residence and discovered Ms. Edge deceased inside the living room. The defendant later spoke with investigators and confessed to the murder.
