School Board Candidate Jill Broxson-Teston Aims to Build on Family Legacy of Public Service

Jill Broxson-Teston has deep roots in Santa Rosa County, and now she’s aiming to carry on her family’s commitment to public service by running for the District 5 School Board seat.

Jill feels a strong commitment to helping our community, like her father, uncle and grandparents have done. Her dad, Doug, served 14 years in the Florida Legislature, and her grandparents, who had 11 children, both served as Santa Rosa County Sheriff after Annie was temporarily appointed to the role when Bart was killed in the line of duty on Christmas Eve in 1959; their son, John, was appointed to complete the term, and he later went on to serve as a county commissioner and a state legislator, during which time he was instrumental in creating the University of West Florida.

Subsequently, Jill feels the calling to step up and help out by seeking election to the District 5 School Board seat, explaining how her campaign is centered on supporting students, strengthening public schools, and fostering greater collaboration between educators, parents, and the community:

“One of the unique perspectives I bring to the Santa Rosa County School Board is that I am currently raising four children in our public schools. Every day, I experience our school system as a parent, giving me firsthand insight into the opportunities, challenges, and decisions that impact families.

At this time, there are no current School Board members with children attending our public schools. That perspective matters. It allows me to understand what parents and students are experiencing today while also appreciating the important work of our teachers, support staff, and administrators.

If elected, I will represent every family in Santa Rosa County. I will work to support our teachers and staff, make fiscally responsible decisions, and advocate for policies that put students first while ensuring our district remains strong for generations to come.”

I would be honored to earn your vote because I bring a current parent’s perspective, a commitment to listening, and a dedication to serving our entire community,” she stated.

As a fifth-generation Santa Rosa County resident, Jill and her husband, Tyler, are raising their four children in the Santa Rosa County School District.

Jill attended Oriole Beach Elementary, Gulf Breeze Middle, and Gulf Breeze High before earning a degree from Evangel University. Her professional background includes medical sales, insurance, and real estate, where she currently works as a Realtor. She is also active in her church and the local charitable organization Impact 100.

Jill says her goal as a school board member would be to serve as “a strong ambassador for our public schools and a trusted liaison” between the School Board, educators, parents, and the community. Her platform emphasizes fiscal responsibility, transparency, and long-term planning while keeping students at the center of decision-making.

Among her priorities are supporting teachers, improving school safety, expanding STEM and career education opportunities, strengthening literacy, increasing parental communication, and ensuring responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars.

Jill has also called for greater transparency in curriculum and school policies and advocates working closely with state legislators to secure funding for local schools.
