It’s hardly ever a surprise anymore for Superintendent of Schools for Santa Rosa County Tim Wyrosdick when he hears back from the state that Santa Rosa County is rated an “A” district.
As a matter of fact, it’s starting to sound like a broken record.
The state released the results last Friday showing the local school district had once again scored an “A” for the district and school grades. This is the 12th consecutive year the district has earned that “A”.
Every single school across the south end of the county received an “A”, according to the release.
“Santa Rosa District School’s continued and lengthy success is a result of the quality of partnerships between our board, teachers, community members and parents. This success demonstrates the commitment to excellence our parents and community expects,” Wyrosdick said. “I am so proud of our teachers and administrators serving in each of our schools. We will celebrate these grades today and tomorrow begin to examine how we can do better. They are consummate professionals who have a heart for students!”
School grades for the 2014/15 school year were delayed due to legislative action requiring a review of the newly implemented Florida Standards Assessment. Florida Standards Assessment performance levels and school grade requirements were approved by the State Board of Education back on January 6.
“Again and again our teachers and students have shown that under the most difficult testing situations, they can still shine. I am so grateful for their diligence and commitment to providing our students a quality education,” said school board chair Jennifer Granse. “Hopefully, school grades will be released earlier for the 2015/16 school year. We are always working to do better and it would be most helpful to receive scores at the beginning of the school year rather than the end.”
