U.S. Congressman Matt Gaetz (FL-01) today issued the following statement in response to the arrival of the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter “DAUNTLESS,” a 210′ Medium Endurance Cutter, to its new homeport of Pensacola Naval Air Station in Florida’s First Congressional District. The cutter requires a crew of 76 Coast Guardsmen, and conducts a variety of missions, including search and rescue, defense readiness, and combatting drug trafficking. The “DAUNTLESS” was previously stationed in Galveston, Texas.

Earlier this year, the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter, “DECISIVE” arrived to the Pensacola Naval Air Station, its new homeport, under the command of Coast Guard Commander, Blake Novak.

“I am pleased to congratulate the U.S. Coast Guard on the delivery of “DAUNTLESS”, the second 210-foot cutter, to its new homeport of Pensacola Naval Air Station. Just this week, the Coast Guard seized 35 kilos of cocaine in the Gulf of Mexico south of Pensacola. The continued growth of the Coast Guard’s presence in Northwest Florida will help the nation’s fight against illegal drugs coming into America,” Rep. Gaetz said.
