A Mississippi duo has been jailed for mail theft involving mailboxes in Navarre and Gulf Breeze.

“We recently recovered a large volume of stolen U.S. Mail,” said Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Jason Erlemann, officer in charge of the Navarre district.

According to Erlemann, some of the affected areas are Whispering Pines Blvd, Tidewater Drive and Winding Shores Drive. Also, Highpoint Drive in the City of Gulf Breeze.

“Since this is a federal offense my detectives turned the recovered U.S. Mail in to the local Post Office for redistribution. The Postal Inspector is responsible for charging the suspects under Federal Law,” Erlemann said.

Two suspects, Lauren Nicole Moody and Robert Shane Moore were criminally charged by SRSO and the Florida Highway Patrol for offenses ranging from burglary and theft to traffic-related crimes.
“I expect further charges as well,” Erlemann said.

Moore, of the 350 block of McKnight Road in Cleveland, Mississippi, is being held in Santa Rosa County Jail under a $27,500 bond for dealing in stolen property, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, drug equipment possession, unarmed burglary of an unoccupied conveyance and larceny (petit theft).

Moody, of the 250 block of Hwy. 446 in Boyle, Mississippi, is being held in Santa Rosa County Jail under a $12,000 bond for unarmed burglary of an unoccupied conveyance and larceny (petit theft).
