SRPE retains bargaining agent status

The newly formed Santa Rosa Education Association, which tried to ursup the 42-year-old Santa Rosa County teacher’s union, failed to achieve bargaining agent status for the district’s roughly 1,900 educators.

“The Santa Rosa Professional Educators (SRPE) is proud to announce that after the votes were tallied today in Tallahassee by the Public Employees Relations Commission (PERC), they have provisionally determined that SRPE has won the instructional bargaining unit election,” SRPE President Rhonda Chavers stated in a press release.

According to Chavers, both parties have 15 days to challenge the election results. But she said SRPE’s margin of victory exceeded the number of challenged ballots.

“We would like to thank all of you for your support and look forward to being the bargaining agent for Santa Rosa Educators another 42 years,” stated Chavers.

SRPE recently celebrated the successful negotiation of teacher pay raises with back pay.
