On 10/4/17, Deputies with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office received information related to a specific threat to students at Navarre High School over social media. Immediately, investigators began piecing this puzzle together.
It was determined; the student who wrote these threats did so under another students name when they created a fictitious account to disseminate the threats. That student was confronted with the evidence which was collected during the course of the investigation and is facing felony charges.
The threats were received by this agency yesterday evening. Investigators worked diligently overnight to determine who wrote the threats. Early this morning, investigators questioned the suspect. At this time, the name of the individual is being withheld pending additional follow up investigations.
Threats over social media are taken very seriously. Unfortunately for those who decide to commit these crimes, they leave an obvious digital trail for investigators to follow. Along with criminal charges, other consequences can include suspension and alternate schooling.
