Suspect sought in Navarre armed robbery

On 7-13-17 at approximately 8:00 pm, the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call in reference to a robbery at the Family Dollar Store, located at 6899 Navarre Parkway.

The caller stated a black male wearing a black cap with a grey hoodie entered the store and approached the register. The suspect then demanded the cashier open the register and hand over the cash. Witnesses’ state the suspect had a bulge under his clothing which appeared to be the barrel of a handgun. When the cashier advised it couldn’t be opened, a second employee approached the front of the store and the suspect ran out of the front doors, empty handed.

The suspect ran westbound toward an open lot. Deputies were on scene within just a few minutes. An SRSO K-9 Unit was also on scene and began a track. The track was lost near an empty building leading us to believe the suspect left in a vehicle.

Investigators and Crime Scene processed the store for evidence. At this time, this case remains active.

The suspect was described as a black male, early 20’s, 5’7” tall, 140 lbs, wearing a wool black cap, grey hoodie and black pants.
