Santa Rosa County Tax Collector Stan Nichols announced Tuesday that he has removed the “mail fee” previously charged for online or mailed in transactions — most notably for tag renewal.
Before Nichols eliminated the fees, the cost was $.75 per decal or $3.40 for a new plate.
“We have removed the fees previously charged for mailing registrations to our customers.” said Nichols. “This change, we hope, will encourage the public to renew online, or by mail, rather than in person. We hope this change will result in shorter lines, allowing us to provide more efficient service to Santa Rosa citizens.”
It now costs the same to renew registrations online, by mail or in the office.
