At their Tuesday night meeting, the Gulf Breeze City Council approved traffic signal changes that could help relieve congestion within the city limits during the summer months.
The thumbs up from city council means the signal at the intersection of Daniel Drive and Old Shoreline Drive, along with the traffic signal on Hwy. 98 and the entrance to Gulf Breeze Middle and Elementary schools will be set in “flash mode” at certain time periods during the summer months.
The signal at Daniel Drive and Old Shoreline Drive will now go into “flash mode” from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily throughout the rest of the summer, rather than 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. like it had been previously.
The light on Hwy. 98 at the school entrances are also set to go into flash mode from 5 p.m. to 6 a.m., and will be set in flash mode 24 hours a day during the weekends.
The city tested out the new flash mode schedule two weeks ago.
