Tropical rains could arrive tomorrow

Okaloosa County Emergency Management and the National Weather service station in Mobile are monitoring a weak low-pressure system in the eastern Gulf of Mexico which appears to be moving toward the north central Gulf and may arrive in our area as early as Tuesday.

According to Okaloosa County Public Information Officer Christopher Saul our area may experience affects through the middle of the week.

Additionally, the Okaloosa County Division of Emergency Management has issued a warning for moderate rip current in Gulf waters through Thursday.

Saul said the Emergency Management officials will stay in direct communication with the National Weather Service in Mobile and update the media and public as is appropriate.

A special forecast for the system is expected to be issued by 3 p.m. today.
