U.S. 98 safety improvement project to start October 8

Construction activities will begin in October 2018 to improve safety on U.S. 98 (Navarre Parkway) at the Constitution Drive and Navarre School Road intersections.

The $847,000 project is expected to be completed in early 2019 and includes new turn lanes, improving drainage, and constructing new curb and gutter on U.S. 98 at the Constitution Drive and Navarre School Road Intersections. In addition, Navarre School Road will be resurfaced and widened near U.S. 98.

Additionally, a new raised median will be constructed between Sunrise Drive and Cotton Bay Lane. Left turns from Constitution Drive and Sea Lark Lane to U.S. 98 will be eliminated. Instead, drivers will turn right, then use the available median opening to make a U-turn.

Santa Rosa County District 4 Commissioner Rob Williamson said he’s glad to see the projects coming to fruition. “As a resident who uses the corridor where these improvements will be delivered on a daily and sometimes many times daily, especially Navarre School Road, I am stoked to see these projects get going. (FDOT) is going to make a lot of my Navarre neighbors happy when these get done,” he said.
