Ueberschaer unseats Peden

Wei Ueberschaer, a newcomer to politics, unseated Santa Rosa County District 5 School Board Member Scott Peden during the August 28 primary election.

Ueberschaer, received 52.88 percent, or 16,743, of the votes. Peden got 14,917 votes, totaling 47.12 percent.

A former teacher, Ueberschaer was named Tate High School Teacher of the Year in 1995-1996 was an Escambia County Teacher of the Year semi-finalist in 1996.

Since 2003 she has served in school-based parent/teacher organizations, including the School Advisory Committee at Gulf Breeze Elementary.

She is a board member of Gulf Breeze Will Do, Miracle League of Santa Rosa County and Ronald McDonald House. She’s the chairwoman of Gulf Breeze High School Project Graduation and a member of Impact 100 Pensacola.

Additionally, she is a member of the Gulf Breeze Chamber of Commerce Education Committee.

“My sincerest thanks to the SRC voters, the volunteers, and most of all to my family for their unwavering support,” Ueberschaer stated August 28 on social media. “Now the work begins and I’m looking forward to serving on the school board on behalf of the children, educators, and support staff to make Santa Rosa County schools the best they can be.”
