Water board election slated for Tuesday

The annual membership meeting and election of directors for Holley-Navarre Water System Inc., will take place Tuesday, January 20.
The meeting will be called to order at 7 a.m. and voting will take place from 7:30 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Current board members running for re-election include James Calkins, Robert Coley and Bien May. Longtime board member Will Goulet was also up for re-election but decided not to seek another term.
Calkins owns VIP Beach, Chair and Umbrella service on Navarre Beach. He’s a member of the Navarre Beach Leaseholders Association, Navarre Chamber and also serves on the Santa Rosa County Republican Executive Committee. He has served on the water board for one year.
Coley was vice president of sales and marketing for Sandoz Chemical Corp for 25 years and Apollo Chemical Corp for 9 years. In addition to serving on the water board, Coley is also president of both the Navarre Beach Fire Department Board and Navarre Towers Condo Association.
May is currently a Facility Manager, Medical Maintenance Leader/Project Manager who has served on the water board for three years.
Other candidates vying for the four open seats include: Brian Kelly, Anthony Moyer and Heather Scruggs.
Kelly is an investment banker with Hallmark Capital Partners, He is also involved in St Jude Fundraiser and Big Brother Program and teaches Sunday school.
Moyer has worked in construction for 27 years. He’s involved with Homes for Heroes, Surf Warriors, Navarre Rotary, Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and helped build the Navarre Park Restrooms, a community-based project.
Scruggs has co-owned Navarre Drywall for more than 20 years and is also owner of Visalus. She has been an affiliate member of the Navarre Area Board of Realtors since 2013 and a member of the Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce since 2013 and is currently serving on that board. Scruggs has participated in building Homes for Heroes and Homes for Our Troops, She is a sponsor of Rotary Club of Navarre and donated labor and materials for the Navarre Park Restrooms.
The meeting will take place in the HNWS board room located at 8574 Turkey Bluff Road.
