Gulf Breeze High School Principal Jason Weeks will be saying his goodbyes to his Dolphin family next month after he was recently offered a position as Director of High Schools with the Santa Rosa County School District.
The principal, who has served as the Dolphin’s head honcho for 5 years, will be commuting up to Milton as of Oct. 1. That is, as long as the SRC school board approves his promotion at next Tuesday’s school board meeting.
If approved, Weeks will fill Clifton “Buddy” Hinote’s seat, who is retiring as director of high schools.
Weeks said in an email to South Santa Rosa News that his replacement is expected to be formally announced on Sept. 22.
The school district has been scouting out Weeks’ replacement, who is expected to be announced at the Tuesday school board meeting as well.
“Jason Weeks is a hardworking, high-quality educator that I have known both personally and professionally for over 25 years,” said Joey Harrell, Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services for the school district. “He has earned the reputation of basing his decisions on what’s in the best interest of the student…a quality all educators should possess. Jason will most certainly serve the students and district well in his new role.”
Weeks has worked for the Santa Rosa County School District in different positions since 1996.
